Chandigarh: The Haryana Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) is set to investigate senior MLA Ashok Arora following a formal complaint lodged by a Congress legislator alleging a scuffle and "indecent behavior." The complaint, submitted a day prior to this development, prompted Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta to take action.

Speaker Gupta has referred the matter to a specially constituted Assembly committee. This committee has been tasked with thoroughly examining the allegations against Arora, who represents the Pehowa constituency, and is expected to submit its findings by the first day of the next Assembly session.

The specific details of the alleged altercation or misconduct by Arora, a prominent and long-serving figure in Haryana politics, have not yet been made public. The Congress MLA who filed the complaint detailed their grievances directly to the Speaker, leading to the formation of the investigative body.

This is not the first instance of Arora facing scrutiny from an Assembly committee. Previously, a privilege motion against him concerning an incident with an HCS (Haryana Civil Services) officer, Kamalpreet Kaur, in 2014, was also referred to a similar committee for investigation. The outcome of that previous inquiry is not detailed in this current report, but it highlights a pattern of formal reviews into Arora's conduct.

The current investigation will now delve into the circumstances surrounding the recent complaint, aiming to ascertain the facts and determine if any breach of conduct occurred within the Assembly premises. The findings of the committee will be crucial in deciding any subsequent action.
